RAWLINGS FINAL NCBA DI TOP 20

After defeating UCF 1-0 in the National Championship game, the Pirates from East Carolina are your unanimous #1 in the Rawlings Final NCBA DI Top 20.  Congratulations to everyone on a great season and we are already looking forward to 2017-2018!

TANNER DUNCAN EARNS MVP HONORS!

Duncan earns MVP honors after going 2-0 and pitching 18 total innings, with the championship game being a 10 inning complete game shutout. In total, he threw 18 total innings, only allowed 5 hits, 4 walks, zero runs and had 23 strikeouts.

Championship Game: East Carolina defeats Central Florida 1-0!

It was the ultimate pitching showdown as ECU faced off with World Series newcomers, UCF. Both held each other to only 10 hits combined, forcing a 10th inning. A double with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the 10th allowed ECU to score the winning run in dramatic fashion. Tanner Duncan took home the MVP honors with a World Series record of 2-0, 18 innings pitched, 5 hits, no runs, 4 walks, 23 strikeouts.

Game 13: Central Florida defeats Nevada 5-2!

The rematch of Nevada and UCF to get to the National Championship game was a thriller. Both teams battled hard, but it was the pitching of Camron White that kept the Wolfpack at bay. He pitched 7 innings, allowed only 7 hits, 2 earned runs, walked no one, and punched out 5. Michael Bulmer also tallied a save on the night.

Game 12: Nevada defeats Central Florida 9-5!

Nevada left everything on the field as they pulled out the W against UCF to keep their season alive. The Wolfpack had an early lead of 5-1, but it took Matt Sanchez and the rest of the Knights to battle back and tie it at 5. Eventually, Nevada surged ahead and ended the game with a 9-5 victory. Due to stellar performances on both sides, the NCBA selected two players of the game:

Matt Sanchez (UCF): 4 for 4, 2 doubles, 1 HR, 4 runs scored, 1 RBI
Drew Andary (Nevada): 4 for 4, 1 double, 1 HR, 3 runs scored, 1 RBI

Game 11: East Carolina defeats Penn State 7-1!

It was the Pirates who came out on top for this win or go home game for Penn State. Their bats could not take the heat that was coming from ECU’s starting pitcher, Sean Garbarino. He received the player of the game honors by getting the W with 7 innings pitched, allowing only 7 hits, 1 earned run, 1 walk, and punched out 4.

Game 10: Nevada defeats Utah State 10-4!

The rematch of the Aggies and the Wolfpack was a great one. Each team was heavy on the batting with the lead switching a few times. Cam Cole was a beast on the mound as he pitched a complete game, allowing only 4 runs, 3 earned, 7 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 7. As a DH, he went 1 for 4, hit a double, and scored one run. He truly was the player of the game and pushed Nevada to the semi finals.

Game 9: Penn State defeats Texas State 8-6!

With being sent home on the line, Penn State and Texas State came in to today’s game knowing this was their moment to prove if they had what it takes to make it in the Series. TXST came out strong putting up a 5-1 lead early over Penn State, but the Nittany Lions battled back and took a 8-5 lead shortly after. They held on to that lead to the very end, earning them a spot in the final four. Tyler Yazujian took home the player of the game honors for his 3 run double in the 5th inning that put his team on top.

Game 8: East Carolina defeats Nevada 17-0!

East Carolina’s bats were definitely alive in their decisive 17-0 victory over rival Nevada. In that shut out, Hatteras Brooks pitched for 7 innings, only allowed 3 hits, gave up ZERO runs, 1 walk, and sent 9 packing. That stat line earned him player of the game honors!

Game 7: Central Florida defeats Texas State 7-6!

Nerve-racking baseball was on full display this game as UCF defeated Texas State 7-6. It was a battle back and forth the entire time with the Bobcats hitting a homer on the first pitch of the game. But it took Longball Challenge winner Matt Sanchez’s grand slam in the 7th inning to get the Knights back in the game and tie the score at 6s. Sanchez truly earned his player of the game honors by going 2 for 3 with 5 RBIs, 2 Runs scored, 2 walks, and his game-changing grand slam.
