#1 Texas A&M Wins Series

UTSA surprised top-ranked Texas A&M in the series opener with a strong 6-4 win over the defending Region Champs. The Aggies showed their mettle and bounced back with 2 crushing performances which were led by the strong pitching of David Williams and the hot hitting of Jake Smith. The wins move the Aggies to 14-2 overall heading into Spring Break.

Victoria Tops Texas

Victoria used a terrific performance from starting pitcher Jordan Pacheco who went all 7 innings, allowing 0 runs on 4 hits to earn the win in non-conference play. Texas was led by Blake Sandall who threw 5 innings of 1 run ball to keep the Horns withing striking distance.

SMU & UNT Split

The SMU Mustangs and the North Texas Mean Green split a pair of games on Saturday, with SMU winning 7-2 in the opening game and UNT earning the split with a win in a 14-10 shootout in Game 2. The Mustangs were led at the plate by Thomas Carruthers and Austin Taylor. Brad Quillen was brilliant on the mound for SMU in game, going all 7 and allowing just 2 ER while striking out 7. Game 3 was postponed due to inclimate weather. It has been rescheduled for Week 22.

#6 Texas Tech Rallies For Series Win

#6 Texas Tech dropped the opening game of a road series to #12 Baylor in Waco thanks to another All American-like effort on the mound from Bear’s ace Robbie Greenberg. Heading to Game 2, the Red Raiders found themselves in a 4-0 hole after the opening grame and in jeopardy of dropping a crucial conference series. But the Raiders found themselves in the nick of time, pitcher Corey Killough settled in and tossed a scoreless final 6 innings to earn the win. The hot hitting of Brandon Thompson and Glen Morrison led the Raiders to capture Game 3 and with it the series win and control of the Gulf Coast North.

Disciplinary Action

The University of Nevada has been placed on probation and issued 4 forfeit losses for violating NCBA DI Rule 6.02.2.

San Antonio Forfeits Season

San Antonio College (SAC) has decided to forfeit their 2014 season due to being unable to successfully field a team. Teams scheduled to play conference games against SAC will be awarded 7-0,7-0, and 9-0 victories for each scheduled series.

The University of Nebraska has been placed on probation and issued 4 forfeit losses for violating NCBA DI Rule 6.02.2.

#12 Baylor Falls At Home

The #12 Baylor Bears dropped a pair of one-run games to the visiting Nebraska Cornhuskers this past Saturday. Afterwards, the games were ruled automatic forfeits by the NCBA since Nebraska participated in games without a valid roster. Baylor was awarded a pair of 7-0 forfeit victories.

North Texas Falls to Nebraska

The Nebraska Cornhuskers swept a doubleheader with North Texas on Friday evening in the season opener for both teams. Afterwards, the games were overturned and ruled 7-0 forfeit victories for North Texas since Nebraska participated in games without a valid roster. The forfeits move UNT’s record to 2-0.
