LSC Montgomery Continues Hot Start

LSC- Montgomery kept up its hot start this weekend by taking 2 from Lee College to extend their record to 6-0 on the season. The Mavericks were led by Shane O’Bannon at the dish who went 4-7 this weekend with a triple and also by Jorge Huerta who had a great relief appearance to earn a win.

Texas State Score Series Win

Texas State opened their season on a high note this weekend by taking 2 of 3 from a tough D2 opponent Stephen F Austin. All three games in the series were tight, 1-run ball games most of the way, but the Bobcats found their way to the top of the heap in this one.

Victoria Sweeps UTSA

In a tight, early-season series between two the Gulf coast’s elite teams, hits were scarce and errors were prevalent. But the Victoria College Pirates found a way to get it done, earning a series sweep over a Gulf Coast South favorite UT-San Antonio.

Walks Doom LSC-Kingwood

Kingwood looked good early against Houston, scoring an 11-1 win over Houston (D2) in Game 1 but dropped a hard fought Game 2 by a score of 3-1. Sunday saw 12 walks doom the Coyotes when they dropped Game 3 12-6.

Montgomery Downs Rice For 4-0 Start

The LSC-Montgomery Mavericks are off to a 4-0 start this season after sweeping both ends of a doubleheader with D2 opponent Rice. The Mavs were led by Bryan Fox at the dish (4-7) and Esteben Fuentes on the mound (2 saves). The Mavs appear to be rolling heading towards conference play in a few weeks.

Sam Houston Nearly Perfect

Sam Houston State had a tough opener last week, but that didn’t get the Bearkats down. The Kats used remarkable performances from Hunter Pirtle and Dane Blackwood to capture both ends of a doubleheader against Lee College. The day started with Hunter Pirtle’s perfect game bid which got within 3 outs of becoming the unthinkable ended when Dane Blackwood went deep for a Grand Slam in extra innings.

Sam Houston State Falls In Openers

The Sam Houston State Bearkats had a tough opening weekend against a strong D2 opponent Stephen F Austin. The Bearkats struggled at the plate all weekend and came up short in all 3 games. The Kats were led by Danny Cavins on offense and Hunter Pirtle on the mound. Sam Houston looks to rebound against Lee College (D2).
