#5 Colorado State was unfortunately forced to forfeit all 4 games of a highly anticipated series with #3 Texas Tech due to issues with travel arrangements. All four games will be recorded as 7-0 victories for Texas Tech.

#17 Texas A&M Handles #18 Texas
The #17 Texas A&M Aggies continued their hot start to the season by taking both ends of a double header against rival #18 Texas. The series was played as non-conference. The Ags offense was led by Vaughn Miller and JR Bethel while Roman Brown and Justin Holder delivered strong outings on the mound. The two teams will meet up again for conference play to close the season in April.
Montgomery Tops Kingwood
LSC-Montgomery took round one of this cross town matchup by taking 2 out of 3 from Kingwood. The Mavs were led at the plate by Colby Felton who was terrific at the dish, going 7-12 on the series. The Mavs erased a 5-0 defecit in Game 1 to win 6-5, then handily won Game 2 by a 14-5 score. Kingwood redeemed themselves on Sunday behind a 20 hit barrage to earn a 14-4 win.

#17 Texas A&M Sweeps TAMU Corps (D2)
#17 Texas A&M continued their hot start to the 2013 campaign by sweeping another series. This time over TAMU Corps of Div II. The Aggies were led by the pitching of David Williams, Cameron Schneider, and Justin Holder. At the dish, senior Vaughn Miller was 6-13 on the weekend to lead the Ags. Texas A&M improves to 6-0 on the season.
#3 Texas Tech Takes 2 from #18 Texas
The #3 Texas Tech Red Raider continued their winning ways this weekend after taking 2 of 3 from the #18 Texas Longhorns. Game 1 was won by the Raiders behind another Ryan Canak double digit strike out performance and the hot hitting of Luke Wadley. Game 2 was a Longhorn victory on the shoulders of a dominant 2 hitter from Clay Modgling. Game 3 was an 8-4 Texas Tech victory to seal the series win and move their record to 5-1 on the season.
Baylor Opens Season Strong
Baylor opened up its season with three straight 1-run victories over Lone Star College – Kingwood. Game 1 was won on a walkoff single by freshman Logan Trent who had 3 of the 4 RBI’s in the game. Game 2 was just as close with Baylor making a great defensive effort in the 7th to strand Kingwood’s tying run in scoring position. Game 3 saw Kingwood come storming back from a 6-2 deficit only to see the tying run stranded in scoring position in the final inning once again.
LSC Tomball Cools LSC Montgomery’s Hot Start
LSC-Montgomery started the season 6-0 and elevated themselves into the 25th spot in the latest voting; however, LSC-Tomball was able to cool the Montgomery bats this weekend and take both ends of a doubleheader. The Montgomery Mavs were led by Colby Felton at the plate and Jorge Huerta on the mound.
Gearing up for Conference
12 Teams from the Southern, Northern and DII conferences will converge on Mesquite, NV next week to play in the annual wood bat Swing Into Spring event. For most teams this is the only opportunity to get some green grass under their feet before they start conference play later in the month. The annual event is a 4 game guarantee for all attendees and gives teams a chance to prepare for the season. Check out the event website at www.swingintospring.weebly.com
