Game 5: Penn State defeats Colorado State 3-2!

It was the first elimination game of the World Series and it did not disappoint. Both the Nittany Lions and the Rams knew that everything was on the line. Penn State got ahead early with a 2-run bomb by Patrick Barder. Matt McDonough’s stellar 8-inning pitching helped back up the offense and earned him and Barder co-players of the game honors.

Game 4: Nevada defeats Utah State 6-3!

Game 4 was a thriller as West Coast rivals Utah State and Nevada duked it out for a spot in the winner’s bracket. The Wolfpack came out on top with a 6-3 victory over the Aggies. Drew Andary earned his player of the game honors going 1 for 2, cracking a 2 run double, tallying 2 RBIs, 2 walks, and was hit by one pitch.

In the last game of the night, ECU toppled Michigan in a 6-0 shutout. Tanner Duncan took home the player of the game honors with an impressive stat line. He held the Spartans scoreless in 8 innings, with only 1 hit, 2 walks, 1 hit batter, and sent 9 packing.

Game 2: Texas State defeats Colorado State 6-0!

Texas State stunned #2 Colorado State with a shut out in Game 2. Player of the game, Lane Verba, was a force on the mound. In a 9-inning complete game, Verba only allowed 8 hits and 1 walk. With 127 pitches to his name, he shut out the rams and punched out 5.

In a run-heavy game, the Knights of Central Florida defeated Penn State 17-2. Alex Villanueva nabbed the player of the game honors by going 3 for 4, racking up 6 RBIs, swiping 3 runs, and delivering one bomb.
